GALEC 2: Report Job-Orientation Workshop 12/4/2012

“Job-tree” game at which each representative of each group had to find out what the job-related words MC said was led into the program. What an exciting game! Each representative had to use their mouth so as to pick the word up.

It was likely that participants were eager for seeking for the word. As a result, some members came to support their teammates 

The warm up game really brought them relax time. And after that, we came to Small talk. In this part, they were divided into 4 groups to discuss many questions. It seemed to have a new wind blowing the inherently small and hot room where many unexpected ideas were shared.

What is the best way to pass a job interview? How do you prepare for the day of interview?

From your viewpoint, what is the hottest job in our country recently? Give examples and explain why it becomes more and more popular.

Most women are working as charlady/charwomen in some households. Should we consider man for this kind of job?

Debate
This part ever-kept making the atmosphere hotter and hotter. It motivated people who were considered to be quite silent to be talkative ones. Opportunities were shared equally for all of participants to let their voice as loud as possible. It was really an excellent way for them to practice and improve their critical thinking skill.

Let’s aloud
They were divided into 4 groups: No.1, 3 for Should and No.2, 4 for Shouldn’t. There were 2 main rounds. The first one was that Group 1 presented their Should ideas in 3 minutes and it’s Group 2’s turn to ask questions and after that Group 3 had to answer what Group 2 wondered. The second one was that Group 2 showed out their Shouldn’t ideas in 3 minutes and it’s Group 1’s turn to ask questions and after that Group 4 had to answer what Group 3 wondered.

He always kept smiling even he was put in a dilemma by questions of other teams

“When job-hopping, you have to need much time to adapt to a new working environment, and to restart relationship among people in your new workplace. It’s a waste of time”.

“Ok, we see BUT….”

Because of time limitation, we haven’t come to the final point of debate. No one can be persuaded by others. However, all of us felt quite satisfied about this workshop. Thanks to the workshop, we could at least pick something useful up.
