GALEC 2 : Report for Workshop" EDUCATION" 21/3/2013

A lot of members came early. It is, without doubt, that excitement expressed clearly on their faces. Members did not need to wait so long because the workshop started on time as usual. At 18h30, members made a big circle and then people began to introduce themselves.
Introduction part was a great opportunity for new members to overcome their first fear about a completely new place:

Warm-up game was right after introduction part. Before playing the game named “ transferring information”, all members were divided into two and given one piece of paper that contained several sentences. The first person of each group could see it, read it, and then learnt it by heart. After that, she /he turned back and transferred the information to the next. One by one, turn by turn, the last member would speak it out.
Unfortunately, there was no winner. No one could remember correctly the lyrics of “Education” song: Everybody needs an education/ Black skin. Red skin, yellow or white/ Everybody needs to read and write/ Everybody needs an education” and the same with sentences in Barack Obama’s speech: You’re not supposed to be good at everything right away/ That’s the reason why you’re in school”.
The sentences considered “education” as an indispensible process of human life. That was about education’s overall role.
Let’s come to part 2: free talk to get deeper knowledge about education:
Members were divided into 4 groups and had 35 minutes to discuss about 4 questions or whatever was relevant to education.

Even when 35 minutes was over, it was still difficult to stop them discussing. They were so eager:

Presentation and Q&A was always an expecting part on each Thursday of weekly workshop. Sometimes, they just told own stories, answered the questions, but sometimes debated strongly
And she really wanted to support her boyfriend’s idea:

We did need to keep an eye on the time so we moved to part 4. All most members focus on topic: single-sex education. Some were partly agreed, the rest were totally. It was because they looked at the problem at different aspects. What’s about you?
Because of time limitation, the workshop ended happily.
In conclusion, we have been a part of education system. We have been well-educated by our ancestors, and our next generations has the right to be educated well too. Enhance education system for a better life!
