GALEC 2: Report for Workshop "SELFIE TREND" 9/1/2014

We are sorry that due to some unavoidable reasons, the workshop got started at 6:36 p.m., 6 minutes later than planned time. It was difficult to imagine that regardless of freezing monsoon, the great number of members still went to ETC in time to attend weekly workshop.
To warm up the general atmosphere in the room, MC divided all the attendees into 4 groups and gave them a so-called “passing obstacles” game. The rule was as follows: Groups had to answer the riddles numbered from 1-7 below and then put their answers into the blank cells in each horizontal row above. Just like “ one letter one cell”. For each correct answer, they were given 10 points and a letter of key word in the marked column. However, they had to arrange these given letters to find out the keyword equivalent to 30 points. All of the answers for questions from 1-6 can give some hints to predict the keyword.

In short 4-minute time period, all groups drew absolute attention to this interesting and intellectual game. Surprisingly, the final results were apparently different. The group 1, thanks to intelligence and quickness, found out the keyword and became the winner while the group 4 gained the lowest score of 20 points.

The keyword “SELFIES” revealed after the game was an important key for the workshop to move on to part 2 “DISCUSSION”. The topic “SELFIE TREND” seemed to appeal to young members. Maybe this was the reason why many people joined the workshop inspite of such bad weather.
Five groups were divided. Groups sat together and happily discussed a lot about this topic.

In my group, I was really impressed by a sense fo humour of a doctor, Mr Kien. He gave us many good ideas relevant to “SELFIE”. Besides, the only girl in my group also frankly shared with us her opinion in taking selfies . Especially, she rarely implemented this action simply because she didn’t like. However, although trying his best and receiving our enthusiastic helps, a handsome man coming from University of Transport and Communications couldn’t mix up well with our ebullient discussion.

The sudden appearance of a girl coming from Singapore made the general atmosphere become more exciting.

Going to Part 3 Presentation. All the attendees sat in a circle to together discuss about the topic and speak out some ideas. Astonishingly, the workshop discovered the fact that out of over 30 people in the room, Mr. Quan took selfies most frequently with twice a week (LOL - an amazing figure- maybe it was not true =)))

Many people like Mr Tuan, Ms Thuy, Mr Thin volunteered to raise their voices to share with members opinions about this selfie trend. After that, some useful tips to take beautiful selfies were given by Mr Tu who was famous for the sentence “ Practice makes perfect”. However, this topic still remained controversial amongst attendees.

Finally, the atmosphere seemed to be boomed with the humourous and intelligent responses of Singaporian girls. Most people were impressed by her accent and intonation. Indeed, she didn’t hesitate to provide everyone with the selfie trend in Singapore and her attitude toward this phenomenon.

Although there were too many things to mention about this hot topic, due to time limitation, the workshop had to be close.
