Chewing gum is one of the oldest candies in the world invented by mistake by Thomas Adams in 1871. For thousands of years, people of all cultures have enjoyed the many benefits of chewing various gums, resins and latex secretions of plants. The tasty, chewy treat is good for you and can help in strengthening the jaws and teeth. According to commercials, four out of five dentists recommend the chewing of certain types of the substance. But what do we really know about chewing gum?
Come to join GALEC 2 this Thursday to discover interesting facts of chewing gum.

I. Warm up game (15 minutes)

II. Free talk (35 minutes)
1. Share us your understanding of GUM: History, Ingredients, Types, Brands, etc (Please search carefully at home)
2. Do you like chewing gum? How often do you chew gum?
3. Have you ever bought or thought about giving Chewing Gum as gifts to your friends?
If you ever use Chewing Gum as gifts, what was your feeling and the receiver’s?
4. What are the benefits of chewing gum?
What are the problems of chewing gum in your opinion?
Tell us a story that you faced up with the problem of chewing gum.
5. Some people hate the stuff and cannot bear the feel of it in the mouth. Even watching another person chomping away endlessly can make them feel nauseous. (Feeling as if you want to vomit)

IV. Group work (40 minutes)

You are the Principle of a high school. You are going to get through the policy of banning chewing gum in your school. However, there are 2 sides of students in the school; one agrees with the policy and the other disagrees.
Students have to persuade the Principle and members of the School Board to or not to get through the policy.
