Report for Workshop: Queue Culture
Time: 6h30-8h30, Thursday 13/12/2012
Place: Smartlink English Center, No 3, Lane 196 Thai Thinh
(Note: Leave your vehicle at Viettin Bank 196 Thai Thinh)

Queuing seems to be a social habit that every citizen always needs to keep in mind and follow at public places. However, the image that people try to push and shove is very popular at Vietnamese public places. And the issue of how to build “Queue Culture” in our society arouses a lot of controversies and debates among people of concern. Therefore, GALEC 2 held the workshop named Queue Culture last Thursday

The workshop was really peals of laughter at every corner of the room. Before entering the main topic, the members played one “Warm-up” game- “Anagram game”- to make the atmosphere “hotter”. After being separated into 4 groups according to their number, the members started using up their vocabulary and creativity to find out the answers, new interesting words for the “challenging” game! Maybe that was the first time that many members had ever tried this kind of game, so only a few ones could know the answer. Although the game was a bit difficult, everyone still laughed a lot when knew such “simple” answers. This part also gave them chances to know more about each other.

After a “hard” start, the workshop moved to “Free talk” part. People still stayed in the same group and discussed with each other. The members seemed to care about the topic “Queue” very much because they shared a lot of their own experiences and thoughts related to “queuing” with the others during the discussion.
And when the discussion ended, each group would choose one as their representative.

To open Presentation part, a girl volunteered to be the first “victim” and stood up confidently. When she talked about her profile, everyone was so shocked at her real age- too young to be true! She said that Vietnamese really don’t follow “Queue culture” seriously and this issue needs enough concerns from the public.

Next, another “victim” was one boy from Eastern University. In his opinion, we need to educate our children well about good behaviors at public places when they are still very young. However, his solution raised a lot of controversies among the members

And another boy in black also wanted to share his thoughts.

Right after finishing Presentation part, the members entered a really” interesting” part.
In this part, we had a role-play about how to persuade others to queue or not to queue. The members were separated into just two groups. One group considered themselves as hurried parents, and the other as a “stubborn” son.
Mr. Dung as the father and Mr. Quan as the son had funny “debate” which made the members laugh very much!
