GALEC 2 : Report for Workshop"CHILDREN 28/2/2013

Children - priceless gifts given by God- are always inspirational images to everyone. “Birth of a child is considered a hard challenge; however bringing him up to become a good person is much harder”. And that’s why parents need to share the role of raising children equally. If you had one chance of joining us at the last workshop, you could see that that topic was really exciting to all the members.

As usual, firstly we started the workshop with Introduction part by which the members could initially get some information about each other. At the start, everyone seemed a bit shy when meeting a lot of strangers. Maybe, that was the reason why Introduction part passed quite briefly and swiftly. Short as that part was, it still could warm up the atmosphere somehow.

Next, we entered an important part of workshop: “Discussion”. MC divided all the members into 4 groups and gave them “private” space to discuss and share their opinions about the questions in the handouts. The groups discussed with each other excitingly and straightly. At some points, our room appeared to be blown up by enthusiastic sounds, which proved that giving birth to children and sharing the role of raising them were actually motivating topics.

After a “loud” discussion, all the members sat in a circle and began their personal presentation. It seemed that Discussion part helped the members “ break the ice” totally and a lot of new faces volunteered to raise their voice.

And this girl was the first “victim”. She confidently told about her most childhood memory-funny and sweet one, which brought a lot of laughters to the room.

Another “victim” was a boy. He shared his opinion about whether mother has more influence on children’s intelligence. His logical answers along with lively description really attracted the members ‘attention.

After two personal presentations, there were “hot” debates among the members about related issues. Those debates totally made our room boiling excitingly !

In the last part, the members were divided into 2 groups. And their mission was to find practical answers to the question related to our topic: “sharing the role of raising children equally”.

Our club hopes that the members can have some changes in their mind through our workshop. Somehow, in next generations, we will see huge differences in the society’s awareness about this issue.
