GALEC 2 : Report for Workshop: “HOW TO STAY YOUNG” 16/5/2013

After speaking out thetopic “How to stay young”, MC.Thuy moved to the introduction part
All members sat in a circle, and got ready for speaking English. Each member was given 30 seconds for his/her introduction. Within 30 seconds, he/she had to mention about the name and one of the most special features of him/her. Because some members wanted to speak as much as possible, so they spoke as fast as possible.
Ms. Minh had a small game. She has a phrase containing 7 letters (C,H,A,M,H,O,C.): CHAM HOC. Provided that letter C was number 1, letter H was number 2, turn by turn, letter O was number 6, and letter C again was number 7. And here was her question: "which letter is number 2001?" (C,H,A,M,H,O, or C) It sounded quite difficult, but if you thought critically, you could find out the answer easily. It was letter C. Why that? As Mr. Triumph explained that, in mathematics, 2001 divided by 7 was 285, with the remainder was 6.


Discussion part was one of the most expecting parts on that workshop. Members were divided into five groups. After counting their number, they moved to their own place and began to discuss.


The atmosphere became hotter and hotter. I joined group 3, and collected a wide range of ideas. Almost every member totally agreed that the best way to stay young mentally was to smile all the time, think positively, and be optimistic.
I remembered the question Mr.Nin asked our group: “if you have a time machine, which moment you want to come back?” Some people said that they didn’t want to come back simply because it could not happen. Some of them wanted to be in high school where he met his first love.


About me, I want to look forward to the future, to know the happy feeling of getting married, giving a birth, or what I have never experienced in my life. What’s about you? You want do come back your time, don’t you?


Members were so eager to discuss that MC found difficult to interrupt them. After having their attention, MC asked them to move on part 3- presentation part. They were so excited for sharing, questioning, and asking until the workshop ended.


During the last five minutes, we announced noticeable news to our members. Our workshop’s location might be moved on another place next month.


After the workshop ended, some members came back to their homes, others gathered and seeking a restaurant for drinking, chatting, getting closer with each other. GALEC is not only a place where we can practice English but also a big home for making friend and relaxing.
