[WORDSTORM 2014] COLORS OF THE SECOND ROUND – FREE PRESENTATION

After 21 days of application, 100 out of 200 candidates had been shortlisted to the 2nd round of WORDSTORM 2014 - Free Presentation. On Sunday, October 26th 2014, at Pathways English Center, No. 74 Kim Ma Thuong Str, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, 100 candidates showing up, our beloved judicial panel and the organizing committee did paint a colorful picture. Let’s flash back on 5 crucial colors of it.

No 1. YELLOW – COLOR OF FRIENDLINESS, WARMTH AND INTELLECT
Many contestants shared the one of the reasons why they applied for WORDSTORM 2014 was that it was a great chance for them to meet, make friends and learn from really excellent English speakers. Hence, many people did present much earlier than their shift to network, make friends and prepare the spirit for their presentation.



When the time came, the first candidates were titled and called to the examination room with two judges and one assistant. In these rooms, they started to show their own colors



NO 2. RED – THE COLOR OF LOVE, PASSION AND ENERGY
The 2nd round of WORDSTORM 2014 experienced a lot of special individuals with different profiles, ages or majors. But they shared the feature – being passion about English.


~~Tran Thieu Quang – 16 years old – from Hanoi Amsterdam Secondary School – The youngest contestant.
His English speaking ability was so unbelievable. Confidently, he presented on the Topic “should young students make decisions on their own lives?”~~


~~Le Anh Tu from Thang LongHigh School who has applied for the contest for the 2nd time. After one year, he came back with much improved pronunciation as well as great confidence. He did a great job with the topic “Being different is an attraction”. ~~


~~Chu Thi Phuong Mai – Van Giang High school. This girl did amaze the judges for the distance she had passed to join the contest. It was said she had to wake up very early in the morning to travel from Van Giang, Hung Yen to the venue. Passion could only be the motivation for that. ~~

NO 3. ORANGE – INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, THINKING AND IDEAS
As regards to the interesting topic delivered by the candidates, orange is the best color to describe.
Facebook, the most used social network was the chosen topic of many contestants, which reveals the fact that the young aretaking so much time and concern on this issue.
On the other hand, many young people dare to try talking their ideas about sensitive problems.


~~Le Van Long from Foreign Trade University was convinced that having sex is a way to strengthen the love and sex not only makes us healthier but also happier. ~~


~~Nguyen Tien Dat from Banking Academy with the topic “Kissing”. ~~


~~Mai Phuong Hai Thuong was confidently presenting about “School bullying”~~

Many topics were very cute and funny:


~~Hoang Thanh Tung especially impressed the judges with the topic “What we can learn from a mouse”~~

Moreover, many candidates were in the intention of exploiting scientific topics such as Nguyen Quy Don talking about stem cell applications on making cosmetics, Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung and the topic Pratfall – a psychological effect, sex education in Vietnam of Vu Tran Ngoc Huyen,…


~~Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung presented about Pratfall –is the tendency for attractiveness to increase or decrease after an individual makes a mistake, depending on the individual's perceived competence, or ability to perform well in a general sense.~~

These above are just some of the outstanding points painting the orange color of the paintings. Other candidates were also special in their ways and choosing the 30 best people to go on was anextremely challenging job for the judges. We are extremely delighted and proud of the better and better candidates joining the contest after each year.

NO 4. BLACK & WHITE – OF FORMAL DRESS OF THE JUDGES AND ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
Since early morning, the organizing committee did show up at the venue to prepare everything so that the candidates had the best condition to perform their talent. They were all in formal dress (white shirt and black pants or skirts). Smiles were on their lips all the time.
